On this 6-day camping safari, you will explore four of Tanzania’s northern nature reserves. Apart from the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will also visit the Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks. You will see swamps and savannah, huge herds of elephants and a crater full of game.

Day 1 | Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Distance approx. 150 km; driving time approx. 2-3 hours

In the morning, you will begin your safari adventure with a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania's most iconic wildlife destinations. The park, roughly the size of Luxembourg, spans an area of approximately 2,600 km². Its breathtaking landscapes, featuring open savannahs, seasonal swamps, and ancient baobab trees, provide a haven for diverse wildlife.

Here, you'll encounter majestic animals such as Masai giraffes, African buffaloes, hartebeest, eland, fringe-eared oryx, and the peculiar long-necked gerenuk. Birdwatchers will be delighted by over 550 recorded bird species, making it a paradise for avian enthusiasts.

Tarangire is world-renowned for its large herds of elephants. This is one of the best places in East Africa to observe these gentle giants, with herds of up to 300 elephants roaming freely through the park's varied habitats.

After an exciting and extensive game drive, you will head to a campsite nestled inside the park, where you’ll spend the night in a tent under the starry African sky. Prepare for an unforgettable start to your 6-day camping safari adventure in Tanzania!

Day 2 | Tarangire National Park – Lake Manyara National Park

Distance approx. 80 km; driving time approx. 1-2 hours

After breakfast, you will drive to the scenic and diverse Lake Manyara National Park. This park is renowned for its over 400 bird species, including colonies of vibrant flamingos, pelicans, and storks, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. The park features lush, primate-filled forests, grassy plains, and the expansive, alkaline Lake Manyara, a hotspot for aquatic and migratory birds.

In addition to the rich birdlife, you might encounter majestic elephants, elegant giraffes, hippos lounging near the water, herds of wildebeests, and impalas grazing in the open plains. Keep an eye out for the energetic and noisy troops of baboons and monkeys near the lake. If you're lucky, you might also spot the park's famous tree-climbing lions, a rare and fascinating sight.

After an exciting and extensive game drive in this wildlife-rich area, you will journey to the small, multi-cultural village of Mto wa Mbu, located on the outskirts of Lake Manyara National Park. This vibrant village offers a unique cultural experience with its diverse local communities, bustling markets, and traditional crafts.

Your evening will be spent at a well-equipped campsite where you can unwind by the pool or enjoy refreshments at the bar, soaking in the serene African atmosphere.

Day 3 | Lake Manyara Area – Serengeti National Park

Distance approx. 200 km; driving time approx. 4-6 hours

Today you will continue to the lush highlands where crops such as wheat, corn, and coffee are grown. While traveling through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you might stop for a breathtaking view over the Ngorongoro Crater before continuing to the Serengeti National Park. Serengeti means “endless plains” in the language of the Masai, and you will see the grassland savannah stretching to the horizon. Bizarre rock formations called kopjes dot the grassy landscape, where predators are often seen. Depending on the season, you will witness the migration of thousands of animals for which this park is famous. You will arrive at your campsite in the Seronera Valley in the central Serengeti in the late afternoon. After supper, you will fall asleep to the sounds of the African bush.

Day 4 | Serengeti National Park
Game Drives and Wildlife Exploration

The entire day will be dedicated to an unforgettable game drive in Serengeti National Park, a key highlight of your 6-day camping safari with Lavatoweradventure. This adventure offers an unparalleled opportunity to explore the Serengeti’s vast landscapes and abundant wildlife. The areas you visit will depend on the location of the migrating herds, as predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs often follow closely behind.

During the short rainy season (November to December), the herds move from the northern hills to the southern plains. Conversely, in the longer rainy season (April to June), they return northward. These migrations are driven by rainfall patterns, and the herds' exact locations vary yearly. Thanks to your expert guide's knowledge, you’ll have the best chance to spot the wildlife at its most active and dynamic.

In addition to wildebeests and zebras, keep an eye out for elephants, giraffes, hyenas, and an array of bird species. The Serengeti is also home to elusive creatures like the serval cat and African wild dog, adding to the excitement of your safari experience.

After a full day of exploration and breathtaking encounters, you’ll unwind at your campsite in the Seronera area, surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.
